Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection is an added convenience that is available to members with a Share Draft/Checking or Money Market Account. Save yourself the embarrassment of returned checks and avoid incurring unnecessary fees.
Overdraft Protection from Shares
You can have funds transferred automatically from your Big Island FCU Share/Savings Account to your Share Draft/Checking or Money Market Account in the event you overdraw your account. Automatic transfers are limited to six per month. Call us today to find out how to link your accounts.
Overdraft Line of Credit
An Overdraft Line of Credit is available to members on approved credit. It is an unsecured line of credit with credit lines available from $500 - $10,000*. Advances are transferred to your Share Draft/Checking or Money Market Account in increments of $25. You get a fixed rate and no annual fee or pre-payment penalty.
*Members must qualify under BIFCU’s membership & lending guidelines.
Courtesy Pay
In addition to the above Overdraft Protection options, you could also be eligible for Courtesy Pay. Courtesy Pay is a service that allows us to pay an item presented for payment against your Share Draft/Checking or Money Market Account even if it causes to account to become overdrawn. It offers additional flexibility and convenience in managing your funds and provides peace of mind knowing that items may be paid up to the authorized overdraft limit.
Courtesy Pay Eligibility:
- Member must be at least 18 years of age
- Member must have Share Draft or Money Market Account open and good standing for at least one hundred eighty (180) days
- Share Draft or Money Market Account must be brought to a positive balance within every thirty (30) day period
- Member must not be in default on any loan or other obligation to Big Island FCU
- Member must not be subject to any legal or administrative order or levy
Courtesy Pay for eligible member Share Draft Accounts will generally be limited to a maximum of $500 (including fees) and for eligible Money Market and Business Share Draft Accounts will generally be limited to a maximum of $1,000 (including fees). Courtesy Pay is offered as a privilege and Big Island FCU reserves the right to returm an item when sufficient funds are not available in your account.
