Membership Eligibility

Big Island Federal Credit Union membership is available to anyone who meets the following criteria:

• Persons who live on the island of Hawaii;
• Persons who regularly work, attend school, worship, perform volunteer services, or participate in associations headquartered on the island of Hawaii;
• Persons participating in programs to alleviate poverty or distress which are located on the island of Hawaii;
• Incorporated and unincorporated organizations located on the island of Hawaii.

To start enjoying the services and benefits of Big Island FCU, visit one of our branches to complete an application. A minimum $50.00 deposit to open your share account and a one-time $1.00 membership fee is all you would need to get started.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
