IDCheck for Shared Branching

Effective May 1, 2025

At Big Island Federal Credit Union, protecting your financial security is one of our top priorities. That’s why we’re introducing IDCheck, a new identity verification process for visitors using Shared Branching services.

Beginning May 1, 2025, when visiting a Shared Branch location, a teller can now identify and authenticate members with out-of-state IDs in the branch through a QR code and one-time passcode multi-factor authentication verification from IDCheck. This additional layer of authentication will be used for all withdrawals from accounts.

How it Works:

  • Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
  • Select your credit union’s name from a drop-down list.
  • Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
  • Upload a photo of your ID.
  • Take a selfie.  Tip: Save your validation for an even quicker experience next time!
  • Show your one-time passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).

A Note for Big Island Federal Credit Union Members:

When traveling out-of-state and visiting another credit union within the Shared Branching network, you may be asked to complete the IDCheck process before accessing your account.  IDCheck is part of a growing effort to enhance security across the Shared Branching network and help protect your account wherever you go.

Thank you for helping us keep Shared Branching safe and secure!
